September Updates

Now that radiation has finished, we have now settled into a routine of sorts. Henry is back at work 4 days a week and is dividing his time between clinic and his research into improving systems of care for diabetes. Willa goes to the clinic about once a week for chemotherapy and continues to thrive with barely a sign of side effects and with great spirit. We have been up to Leadville several times through the month-hiking, enjoying the aspens, spliting open geodes with the Farrets, and feeding carrots to the neighbors horse We have also had some fun visits-Mouse (my sister) came out and we had a really fun day at the Science Museum with Mouse and her friend Paul who became a fast friend of Willa's after reading Winnie the Pooh. Later in the month-Liz (with little baby Charlie), Jen, and Nicki (Stacy's BFFs from high school) came for a weekend visit-lots of walks, trips to the park, and a fantastic art project-Jen shared her story of when her big sister decorated the eye patches she wore as a child-and well supplied with glitter, googly eyes, and markers-we all (Willa too!) got to be creative and we decorated dozens of patches. Now Willa looks forward to picking out her patch each day! Other highlights from the month include music class with Aunt Shelly and Maddie, walks to the park with our neighbor buddy Ben, a swim date with Rachel and Carson, a trip to Elitch's (amusement park) to celebrate a very successful Walk for the Cure for Diabetes with our friend across the street-Ava, and a tea at the Brown Palace ("is this a palace?") with Stephanie and Mia. Thanks as always to all of our friends and loved ones for your continued prayers, thoughts, and support.
